Here's a silly question for ya...

Anyone know how to remove those scuffs and small scratches from the plastic bodywork or is even trying an exercise in futility?

Mirror Glaze #6 Cleaner Wax with an orbital buffer works great for scuffs and small scratches. Large ones you may just have to live with. Good luck.

I did start it by saying it was a silly question... I guess the plastic is designed for heavy abuse... Just wondering if products for car finishes will work the same with the plastic. I'm thinking not. The color seems to run though the material, not painted on. On motorcycles (rice burner types) the finish always looks highly polished. Different materials?

There was a guy a while back who posted a good plastic polishing, hope I get it right : for finer scratches, wet sand with 400 - 600 grit until plastic is smooth, the fine scratches from the sandpaper will leave a white haze on the plastic, the next step is to use a buffer with a foam pad, the cloth pad will heat up the plastic too much. He used 3M metal polish, I'm sure any other fine metal polish will work, then you gently buff the plastic until it is smooth and shiny again, wipe it all down, and use a finish like Son of a Gun, or Armor All, and it will shine like new. Deeper scratches will need to be taken out with a 200-320 grit, then smoothed with the finer stuff before buffing. I haven't tried it yet, but my son's 300ex is a prime candidate, got some swirls and scratches on the side panels and fender edges.

Would anyone know if the bodywork is painted or is the color throughout the plastic, as in boats?

I am guessin that it is all the way through because when you scratch it the scratch is the same color has the un scratched part?? just my thinking
