V Force tie rod's and strange noise. Help
Hey guys I was out riding today and after about an hour or so when I stopped and sat still with it in drive after about a minute it started to make a high pitch whine/squeel type noise and when I put it in neutral or gave it a little gas it went away is this normal? (figure its a belt noise) also earlier I tried to pull a friend out of the mud and was giving it a little gas just kinda easy because the ground I was on wasnt exactly hard and then the tires started to spin (top couple of inch's of dirt was hard but under that it was just mud) but then I smelled a rubber burning smell I assume was the belt slipping I didnt do it long and only got a little whiff of that rubber burning smell will this hurt it bad?
And also need to know of a good place to find tie rods tree's LOVE the V Force they can't stop trying to reach out and "touch" them so I bent the left front tie rod enough that it is hitting the shock I've seen several post's about these tie rods being weak but I did do a search in the forums for tie and rod and the only post it shows was one where some one was needing one for a DS 650 also I remember reading some where that there were some stronger after market tie rods for the V but again can't find the post of it either one thing I was wondering is when I hit the tree I kinda saw it coming and slammed on the brakes and probably not going 2-3 mph (I would have only needed 2-3 more inch's before I would have stopped) when I hit it so in my opinion those things are too weak I know they should give before it breaks the steering stem, hub's,wheel's,spindle's, and a arm's and what not but going that slow seems there too weak. Please help THanks Doc |

I think your belt is to tight from what you first said then when you smelt the rubber from it slipping leads me to believe it might be to loose. OR its to tight and you had some water in the housing maybe so that is why it slipped? I have had my belt slip only 2 or 3 times on my V and that was all in water.
