Went trail riding today with some friends and one of my buddies ran a 3" diameter stick right up through his front fender by the key(04 p700 less than three weeks old!) Has anyone else had this happen or is the plastic just that soft?

The body plastic is slightly thinner than other machines, but still very strong. I guess it goes to show that if you hit anything hard enough, it will break.

Cammoman.. I feel for ya man.. I was doing about 5mph up a hill and moved over to let a friend pass and I heard pop!! Looked down .. My front right molding tore and fender broke right across under the key to the center of the bike.. Man I near puked.. I was pissed.. It was a tree branh also.. not very big.. I'm going to ask the dealer about it when I go in for my second service... I never seen plastics break like that.. It would be different if it was winter or cold??? Sux!

What's up guys,
A friend of mine took out his Brand new Sportsman 500 and on the first day a stick that was pointing toward his bike came up and though the left front fender by his leg. It almost skewered him but just broke the plastic. The polaris plastic is pretty thick, so it depends on the angle of the stick. You can rig it back in if you still have the peice of plastic that broke off. Holes and tie wraps go a long way.

Same thing happened to me. Front fender under key hole. Replaced entire front piece and mud flap.

A guy here on our base just broke his jaw and eyesocket while going about 5 MPH. He hit a stick, it came up just right and got him in the side of the head. Sounds freakish, but I read the report. If it can do this to your head, imagine what it can do to the plastic if it gets hit just right. I can see it happening easily.
