I just got a used KXF 400 and the kid didn't have the owner's manual. How do you check the oil level? It doesn't have a sight glass like my Mo, and I don't see a place on the engine for a dipstick.

Also, anybody know the chain tension? Any help would be appriciated. I want to go riding after work. I've only test ridden it so far and was surprised by how much power it has. I can't wait to go riding!

 

You have to look for the black plastic resevoir in front of the engine. that is the oil tank. it has a dipstick built in but no sight glass.

as for the chain I belive it is supposed to be about an inch and a half but off the top of my head I cant say for sure. but I know that is close, I think the manual says inch and a quarter to inch and a half.

Unless you have done a suzuki chain adjustment before you will have trouble without a manual. post back up if you need help with that.

 

The chain tension should be in the range of 1.2 - 1.6 inches. Do a search in these forums for "Service Manual" - there are a couple of websites that you can sign-up for and get free service manuals.
