big speeds take big hp # the clutching is limited peek power is at about 6500 rpm and if im not wrong a p650 running at 65 mph is running about 7500 rpm to get more speed from these quads some body needs to open the gear box and build some new gears for them. so the clutches can be set up to full shift a peek power and top speed and we quit trying to run these motors past there peek hp.

be fast or be last

Different gearing or larger clutches would have to be the first big step to increasing top speed. Once overrun is achieved in the clutching engine speed increase is going to be directly proportional to vehicle speed, but not in a 1 to 1 ratio.

There is a racing circuit that covers New England and Eastern Canada and local races every weekend at a lake here in Presque Isle during the winter. Bring your 200 hp 800cc and maybe you could "school" us with some of your forgotten knowledge.

Bring your wallet.

well said 2Big4u. "i have forgotten more on making quads and especially sleds go faster or ride better than you will ever know.lol" haha. the people in this darn forum always want to start with people like us. it seems that people like me are never right and people like them are never wrong. in my own opinion you and I are right, but what the he*l do i know i am just a kid right. shotgun where are these races at? any taking place on the lakes up in NY state? i want to do some @ss kicking on my completely trailable, stock bore, pump gas burnin, 1000cc kickin polaris edge x 600. these guys wont know what hit them when they race my sled with a stock exhaust, stock suspension, 144studs, and some ""minor"" internal motor work and some ""minor"" clutch tuning lol. give me some information because i really want to get into some comptetitive lake racing and make some money. thanks a lot

I dont see the big deal with those huge top speeds. I mean its not like your going to hit 90 in a GNCC race, maybe i just prefer the thing that can help you out on the track the most. Acceleration and handling.
