Hello John,,

The machine is brand new ,with 0 miles on it, with clear title and kept in
my own garage since I bought it. It is awesome.
Now I'm interested to close the deal with a fair price for both sides.
I can give you the quad for $ 3,500-US, shipping/handling included.
I have to tell you that my location is Lisbon, Portugal and the machine is
here too.
The shipping will be done via J.C. Motors on my charge. The keys and the
contract will be sent via FedEx. You'll get them in 2 days and the item will
arrive in 4-6 days.
Regarding the payment, before shipping takes place you have to make a
deposit for the entire amount. The idea is that I don't require a payment in
advance, only a payment proof ,to see that you have the money and you intend
to buy it.
To be able to check that the amount has been deposited accordingly, the
deposit will be made using an on-line transfer from western union.
Please note that I will not ship until the deposit is made.
For security reasons you will make a transfer using your name as the sender,
a name to your choice as the receiver (your wife's name, for example) and
Lisbon (Portugal) for location.
After the deposit is made, I will need the details of the transfer to verify
it. If it's ok, I'll start the shipping process providing you the tracking
numbers from the shipments, to track them on-line until they will arrive.
You will inspect the item when it will arrive. If you will intend to keep
it, you will go and change the name of the receiver into my name. This will
enable me to pick up the deposit and it will finalize our deal.
If you don't like the machine, no question asked, you will cancel the
deposit and I'll ship it back.
Please let me know if you would be willing to continue on this basis before
we proceed any further.
Thanks,
Scott

I had the same problem on a KFX 400 a few months ago. I saw it on ebay for $3000. The guy said it was brand new and his friend won it in a contest and he was selling it for him. I emailed him and he replied almost word for word the same as your email. He said in another reply after I refused to do the wire transfer that way that the bike was actually his??? My bank told me to do a bank transfer to his bank and they hold the money till i recieve the bike, once i recieve the bike, my bank would contact his bank and release the funds. That way its all legal. He would not agree to this. Sounded to much like a scam, so I told him to go pound sand.

I've worked a few of these cases and the reality is that trying to get a response from their country of origin is futile. In order to resolve the country of origin, you need to look at the email headers and usually it contains the path. However, some of them are obfuscating their location through fake email headers.

This is typically handled by U.S. Customs, but the FBI has shagged quite a few. Very few of these guys are ever caught and the victims are seldom remunerated. Reporting it to eBay is probably the best path to take.

Peace,

I just sold a DS-650, I ended up selling it thru ATVtrader.com but I also posted it on E-Bay. After a day on E-Bay, I was notified by a fellow from this group that it was also posted by someone else. I looked and some low life copied all my info, used the same pictures but just included his name, LOSER. I notified E-Bay and the ad was gone in a day, it didn't help me however. Anyone thats interested in selling a ATV I suggest you use Trader.com, My DS sold in two days and I'm still getting calls, Putt

Last time I checked, ATVTrader.com had more scams on it then ebay, so be careful whereever you advertise on the web.
