Default Progressive springs for P700? Not on ebay....

I bought a Progressive kit for my P700 on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2447072855

It does not fit. I called Progressive, and the tech guy said they don't manufacture a kit for the P700, as the struts are different (smaller o.d.). The p.n. on my kit is 31-2006 (calls for a Polaris, but reportedly fits Kawi P650, too).

I could have sworn I have heard people posting about Progressive suspension on the P700....(?)

I'm waiting to hear back from them; I'll report back.

I found the thread, MikeRhyne has a set on his P700; I'd like to know how he did it, or what pn. he used. The only problem I could see with the kit was the adjusters i.d. was ~ 2mm bigger than the strut o.d.
I'd like to speak to Mike about it.

MikeRhyne, if you're on here, could you pm me your contact info, please?

I have the Progressive spring kit that I took off my 02 650 Prairie and I put them on my new 700 Prairie! I also know that Mike Penland has them on their 700 Prairies.

I may be making a mistake trusting my dealer, but he's been a moto-crosser and mechanic for ~ 40 years, so I believe him. Normally, I do this sort of thing myself, but I've had other priorities lately. I believe that I may have just rec'd the wrong adjusters in the kit.

"tonykrista" emailed me back saying that he had installed many of these kits, and that if I wanted some other parts, he would take back in trade. We'll see what happens; Progressive is supposed to call me back with the spring adjuster inside diameter. FYI this is regards to the Progressive kit # 31-2006

Thanks!

Yes I got mine off of ebay and I have them on my 2004 prairie 700 and no problems so far. The adjusting ring is not a snug fit around the shock body but there are set screws to hold it in place. I'll check my part number tonight and let you know.

Okay. It's starting to make sense. The 31-2006 kit from Progressive will work (as PW and Mike already know). The adjusting ring has an i.d. of 1.920" , which is larger by ~.100" than the strut body. I wrongly assumed that this would be too much play, even with the set screws. Penland does use these springs, but I didn't know whether or not he fabricated bushings for the adjusters or not; I'm supposed to call him back. James wasn't sure.

Do you guys feel that the difference in the spring adjuster and the strut body is safe for hard riding? It seems that the set screws wouldn't be able to withstand the force produced by the spring as it compresses. Maybe I'm seeing it wrong? The spring adjusters double duty as the the perch of the spring, correct?

If Progressive manufactured it so it was a perfect fit it would not allow for manufacturing differences and they would have to deal with allot of returns etc. So I would think the amountof play I have on mine to be normal. I've installed lift kits on trucks/jeeps with more play than this with nor problems. The ideal would be to have a threaded shock that the adjusters threaded onto - my toyota lift was like - maybe the Elkas are that way.

For what it is worth the 2003 650 and the 2004 700 strut part numbers are the same on buykawasaki.com 45023-1014.

Thank you for your time, MikeRhyne. I'll give another go.

FWIW, Penland stated that his Progressive kits do not have this "slop".

Go figure.
