VFORCE-How does it do in snow and mud?
#2
We just had some snow here, only about 2 inches so can't really tell much in that. And yes the ground clearance seemed to help it out, I can just about go anywhere with it than I can with my scrambler...well almost.

I just put over 100 miles on my V this past weekend up here in Minnesota. We don't have much snow on the ground right now, but the trails we were riding had snow and ice, as well as the frozen lakes. I was pretty amazed at the traction the V had in the snow. It's not going to go anywhere a 4wd unit goes, but that's what I have a Rubicon for.
Good luck on your decision.

Hey man, the V is great in the snow. A while back I was tearing through about a foot and a half of fresh unpacked powder, and it was great. The clearance keeps ya from plowing too much, watch out for semi soft drifts, I flipped my rig when one wheel went over the drift, and one went under. It would be nice if they could do something about the brittleness of the fender plastic. Anyhoo, I have a blast in the snow and mud.

Perhaps it depends on the consistency of the snow or the air temperature at the time, but when we got our first snowfall here in the Frederick area (about 6 to 7 inches worth) my V-Force with stock tires didn’t do so well. I couldn’t even go up moderate hills in virgin snow. However if you ride in previously made tracks then it went a lot faster (still an ice skate though as you have to take it easy with the throttle to keep the tires from doing over 70 mph when the quad is only doing maybe 25 or so). My Grizzly with 27” 589s even in 2WD would run away from it (and in 4WD it would absolutely smoke it). I believe if you put more aggressive tires on the V though it would be a different story.
As for mud, I've always taken the easy way around when I'm riding the V-Force (where I'd probably go through it if I were riding the Grizzly)...

The V works great in the snow for a 2 wheel drive. I have been running mine all winter as the snow has not been that great for sledding in the low country. If you are going to ride, get a different set of rear tires and screw the @#$%$#@ out of them. WAY more fun, lots of speed. The key thing is to keep on the throttle all the time. Your tires have to spin about 4:1 to have any fun. Check out what I am using. works great. I climbed some hills that blew me away. I pointed and pinned it expecting to get maybe 1/4 to 1/2 way up and was able to climb over the top. You must get the screws if the snow/ice/hardpack sticks around for any more than a month or 2.
