Default V-fORCE CDI SOON

I sure hope it's true. This is the CDI I have been waiting for. I will send a email to Mike at MT racing to see what he knows about the Vortex and the mighty V. He should have some info since he sells them as well. I'll post a reply when I receive same.

Don't these aftermarket CDIs just let the engine rev past where it makes its peak power? What good will it do reving out the engine past its peak? If I'm wrong here, enlighten me.

Well, first off the stock CDI unit on the v-force starts to retard the timing after 5000 rpm, also it is only a 28 degree advance up to 5000 rpm. That is why the power drops after 5000 rpm. The stock CDI is one part of how Kawasaki detuned the KFX 700. The modest timing curve on the stock unit allows you to use regular pump gas as well.

so if one spends the money on the cdi...will they have to buy race gas then too? or can you use like a premium pump gas?

If you plan on installing it on a stock machine I don't think you would have to run any thing higher than 93 octane to be safe. The instructions that come with an aftermarket CDI usually address this issue. If you are running ( hi-compression pistons, nitrous, ect.) Then you will need to run higher octane gas. I am installing nitrous and need a CDI with an ajustable timing curve.

Well, today is Tuesday 1-20-04, and I just got off the phone with Duncan Racing. There is NO Vortex CDI available for the KFX 700. The lady on the phone said she has got quiet a few calls today from people who are under the impression that it is available, well its NOT!!!! She went on to tell me that there is not even a release date set for it. I'm sure I'm not the only one to call today, so has anyone herd anything different?
