I know this has already been asked, but in everyones opinion, which is better for an all around tire, the 589 or the Mudlite? There is not much sand where i'm from. Just mud, rocks, snow and hard earth.

I have the ITP 589's on my P-650 and my girl has mudlites on her Rincon. In the mud it's no contest, the mudlites rule. She has limited skill level and does the wrong things in the mud: i.e. stops in the middle and she still out pulls me in the mud. In the rocks, real rocks like Tellico N.C. the 589’s performed better. I will say that I didn’t let any air out of them, so they all would have done better. IMO the mudlites performed better and because I live in the mud a set of 28’s are in my near future.

I don't own Mudlights but I feel they would be "all round" better Tire. The 589 28 are good snow tire but I find them heavy on trail.

Fire fighter, I agree with Jason, the Mudlites are great all around and even in the snow. I had 589 on my ol ruby and they're too heavy. They were good in mud and snow but trailling, you're much better with mudlites.

Firefigter69 I live in New Brunswick and have 27" mudlites on my 03' 650....they work excellent in deep snow, well over a foot here and the huge lugs on the mudlites dig unbelievably!! A friend of mine has the 27's on his 03' Grizz and he's been in some scary mud bogs last summer and pulled through with ease! He got rid of his 26" vamps for these!! But the best part is they're Light and ride smooth! Bottom line is get these tires in a 26" or up! 3/4" lug on the 25's but 1 1/4" lug on the 26's 27's and 28's! excellent working and looking tire.

Firefighter, I have 26" 589s on my 650 and they are pretty good. I find they work well in the mud and snow, but they aren't too great in the rocks. The rubber compound they are made from is fairly hard, so they don't grab the rocks all that well. They log hop well, but their weight makes them a little much for average trail riding. The mudlites seem to be the new tire choice, but my next go around I think I might try the Maxxis Bighorns.
