Default P360 Carb Question

Was playing around last night and took stock snorkel off. I also closed the slide vent I installed on top of airbox lid and did some test runs.Midrange was definitely improved but lost 2mph top speed at top of my hill. Tried dial a jet in all positions and made no difference. Reinstalled snorkel with slide on lid still closed and mid range is noticeably weaker but got my top speed at top of hill back?
I am going to downsize main jet this weekend and see if I can get any response out of dial a jet. I am seriously questioning whether the dial a jet is just a gimmick. I will know better after jet change this weekend. If I lost some top end with snorkel disconnected I would think it is running lean(checked plug and it looks good, very light, definitely not rich) Anybody got a suggestion why top end would be better with stock snorkel??? Maybe I should dump dial a jet and see if I can raise my needles? to improve mid range with the stock snorkel--or maybe I oughta find a rad hose to replace the stock snorkel??
Any response appreciated before I tear into this thing tomorrow!

Default P360 Carb Question

I drilled some holes in the top of my airbox lid, after doing some test runs I found I deffintly lost power... I'm pretty sure the reason I lost power is because of the flow of air, appeared that the air coming in was being lost directly out of the holes I drilled. You might have the same sort of problem, just a suggestion.

and a good suggestion--I am really starting to think I got screwed with the dial a jet---thats who suggested the slide for the airbox lid. I think i will fill it in with silicone and find a rad hose to replace the stock snorkel

I ran my bike outa gas last night anticipating taking the tank off tomorrow for a valve adjustment check
Have you checked your valves yet?
Are you running high test?
I have been and think I will try regular gas this time---read a statement that high test can hurt you because it takes more compression to ignite it fully---and compression we aint got

what's a rad hose?

I have checked my vavles once since I 1st had to adjust them because of stalling problem.. They were fine last time I checked.. I use 87 octane, never tried 91+ dont think there is any need to..
