It seemed to be working fine last time I was out, but went out today and could not get the 4wd to engage. When I turn the key on, I can here a ticking noise from the solenoid on the CVT cover. THe quad ran great, but no 4wd...please help.

Yea I can help, your actulator is a P.O.S. here is the latest thread on the subject Actulator

Dont know about the clicking sound, don think I have heard that before, but there seems to be many problems with these things.. I myslef am on my 3rd actulator & as I posted in the link above, it takes a while to go into 4x4 but after it does it works fine.. I found that just leaving the toggle switch in 4x4 mode & driving around a bit & then taking the AtV down under 5mph so it can switch to 4x4 does the trick for my current problem, but have no idea why it does that..

The 2 previous actulators I replaced got water in them & blew them, you can take the actulator out & manually conect a pos & neg wire from your battery to the red & black wires on thewiring harnes to the actulator & see if it works, if it does it's probably not that & is something up stream like your sensors or control box (dont know anything about them thouhg)

If you do decide to take the actulator out & give this a shot MAKE SURE you do not let the tires roll because it might get the gears out of positon in wich case you'd probably have to take to a dealer to get it back in, at least I think that's what happened on my 1st one.. You also need to have the actulator pin in the same position it is in before you check to see if it works. If you need more info let me know

Most of us that have problems getting the P-650 into 4WD also notice that the 4WD/2WD display flashes back and forth.

This is from Nyroc's Tech tips:

Prairie 650 - Flashing 2wd 4wd lights

Page 38 of manual says:

flashing 2wd/4wd indicator lights signal a malfunction of the kawasaki engine brake control system or the selectable 2wd/4wd system. A flashing interval of 0.5 seconds indicates a malfunction with the 2wd/4wd actuator, a 1 second interval indicates the KEBC actuator is malfunctioning, a 2 second interval indicates both actuators are malfunctioning.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Apparently, the fuses under the seat could be to blame for many people's flashing lights. So, before you waste time and energy diagonosing problems with the 4x4 selector and KEBC, try this tip from OldmanWheeler:

"Pull out each fuse and take a pair of pliers and just barely twist the ends of the fuse. I also took a small screw driver and tweaked the clips in the box. The idea is to make sure the fuse fit real tight. Once you have a tight fit use a small screw driver to place die-electric grease between the fuse contacts. Once that is done I filled the cap, closed it and filled all openings. Once this was done I never had any more problems. According to the Kaw person who told me how to fix this, it's been a problem, especially on the new P700's"

I couldn't seem to get mine fixed, so took it to the dealer. He said that he pulled off the CVT cover, it was full of dust inside (which I think probably affected the EBC), he blew out all the dust and maybe he worked over the fuse, as discussed above. Seems to work fine now.
