Brute Force or King Quad?????????????????
Hello,
I am wondering if I should trade in my 2002 Prairie 650 for one of the new Brute Force machines or wait and see the new King Quads. I use to own a King Quad many years ago but traded up to the big engine machines since. I have owned a Sportsman and a Grizzly and now the Prairie. All had things I liked about them and things I did not. I really like my 650 but like to trade every three years or so. At times I wish I had more ground clearance on the 650 as I use it in Canada each November hunting and I do bottom out at times in the frozen ruts there. On the other hand I do some goose hunting in the hills of South Dakota and I like the fact that it does not have a lot of ground clearance. It is not "tippy" like the Grizzly I had that I had put a lift kit on. I like the look of the Brute Force but wonder if it might be a bit more "tippy" than my 650. Maybe the independent suspension will compensate for that if I hit a rock on a side hill. I am not sure. I know it will be better going over deep ruts than my 650. I need to look at the King Quads now. No one has them yet in this country. I use my ATV's for spraying on flat ground, making trails in heavy rushes, hunting in Canada in the winter and a bit of goose hunting in hilly country but the goose hunting and riding over hilly country is rare and only once every couple of years for a weekend. If any of you guys think that I would benefit from trading up to the Brute Force or King Quad, I sure would love to hear from you. I really would appreciate your advice. Thanks a lot and have a great Fall. John Collins Mellette, SD. |

both are good quads i think the brute is more powefull, and the kink quad is more comfortable and easier to ride probaly. You could check out the SP800 also ive heard nothing but good about that quad also.

I think there is two reasons why I would consider a KQ over a BF:
1) CVT 2) electronic actuators It seem Suzuki has less problems then Kawi based on these two design differences. Its very hard to prolong one's purchase so I wish you luck. |
Brute Force or King Quad?????????????????
wow, this is a tough one, but i know if it were me i'd go for the Brute just cause it's the more powerful machine.

fenderbenderwilly,
I don't know where your getting that 700 pounds but both quad are at same weight or just about 604 pounds. Why would you prefer a 4X4 uttility quad because it jump's better??? Those are both 4X4 uttility and would wait few months as they will find problems with both quad very shortly (Always does on first year production) Both good machines with their share of trouble to be discovered in next few months. |

Thanks a lot you guys for all your help. Most appreciated. Will wait to ride a King Quad when they are available
here. Sure liked the one I had many, many years ago. Could anyone tell me what this SP-800 is? Who makes this ATV? Thanks again and you all have a great Fall. Big John |

sp-800 is the polaris sportsman 800,EFI. Fuel injected, 760 cc's, 700 or so pounds, independent rear suspension, mac struts up front, parallel twin carb motor. nice atv, too heavy for my taste. i have a brute force and a honda rubicon, love both of them.

Grizkiller,
Thanks for clearing that up. I had a Sportsman 500 years ago. It let me down in Canada on a Spring bear hunt. Both my buddy and I had the belts go on us. They did not like water at all back then. I called the tech. service department after many headaches trying to get through to someone that could help me at Polaris. I was not impressed with their customer service. Once I did get through they told me flat out not to get the belt wet on the Polaris Sportsman 500. I could not believe what I was hearing. Traded it for a Grizzly a few days later. I also did not like the fact that it had all those grease zerks that had to be maintained as well..................... |
