holeshot atr's on p 700 with winch

i absolutely loved my prairie when i got it. i got to ride it about 100 miles before the winch mount came in at the dealer and never thought anything about that useless weight out on the front of my machine. it ruined the handling and changed the preload on the front springs so much that when you hit a jump it would just nose dive. and i can no longer pull a wheely even on pavement because it just blisters the tires. since the winch install i have put the progressive front sping kit with preload adjusters on and got my front suspension sorted back out for jumping and braking, but still with violent tire spin even at 30 plus mph. next, i thought tires. found a set of used atr's on ebay for $140 shipped to me so i took a chance and they are in great condition. i put these on and the high speed traction is improved somewhat and the ride and drive is beyond belief. no wobble at any speed like others have reported, just silky smooth ride with awesome handling. but still i do not have any traction at any speed below about 25 mph. i know my bike cant just have that much more power than any other one so i think i am done with the obese winch. i am like anyone else, i want more power. but any more power would be completely useless. if anyone can give me anymore ideas it would be appreciated. also, my p700 just rolled over 300 miles and has a twinair filter and royal purple synthetic oil with stock jetting. my top speed according to my gps is 69 mph and my speedo shows 70-71 mph with the atr's. if anyone is interested in a warn 3000 winch that is new, pm me and maybe we can make a deal. thanks in advance. pete

holeshot atr's on p 700 with winch

Pete,
Thanx for your comments about the winch. I have had a winch on my P650 since it was brand new, so i don't know what effect it actually has on my quad's handling and traction. I did notice an improvement in handling and landing jumps when I installed Progressive springs. If you don't already have one, get yourself a Dyna CDI or a module (any brand). I have owned both an original DG holeshot module and now the Dyna cdi and both make my quad pull huge wheelies on take-off assuming I'm on pavement or hard pack. With either the DG holeshot or the Dyna CDI, my winch does not weigh down the front end to the extent that I can no longer pull huge wheelies on pavement...in fact, I have to let off the gas or it will flip over on me when I pull wheelies on pavement from a dead stop. If you want more power, buy the Dyna CDI or a module...best bang for the buck IMHO.

If you don't use your winch and you never ride alone, then you might as well sell it like you plan to. I do use my winch on occasion, so I'm not willing to get rid of my winch just yet.

Happy trails...
