V Force air box help
#1
My V is stock but I wanted to put a better filtering system to restrict the dust that goes in the air box (I mainly drive in sand pits, very dusty). I have seen some aftermarket air box covers that has a built in filter. I decided to make one by cutting my original cover and installing a filter foam spayed with K&N foam oil. I also blocked the original snorkel. I have notice that the motor does not rev as much as it use to and it sometimes backfires. I tought it was getting to much air so I tried covering the foam with duct tape. Tried covering a small amount and tried it , it was not better. I tried a little more and a little more till the motor stated to lose a lot of power. I tought it might not be getting enough air then, so I removed the plug in the snorkel hole and the motor will not rev at all. It seems like those slides in the cabs on top of the buterflies get out of wak (to much air). If I remove the plug and cover the foam completely it runs great. I just which I could find a solution because I have this set up on my banshee and I ride for a hole day and there is no dust inside the air box, wich means none in the motor. Does anyone have any solutions for me.

Just a thought but have you tried a installing an air filter in your snorkel. I don't know if it would work but try some filter foam on either end of your snorkel if you can get it to stay in place this should give you basically double filtered air. However the more air restrictions you place on your motor the more power loss there will be. If it were me and I thought I had to have more filtration I would use the k&n filter lid, don't get cheap motors are alot more expensive than a lid, and rejet for the increased airflow if needed.
