Default Brute Force Airbox/CVT Intake

Just converted back to a Brute Force after three years on an Outlander. The question I have is this: Is there an improvement to the Airbox / CVT intake on the 2010's? On the Kawi website, they are saying there is some sort of splash cover to help protect the intake over the rearward facing system already in place. Is this new for the 2010's?
Thanx
