How well does the praire hold up? I have traded a bayou300 in for a praire and am curious as to what I can expect. Will it hold up as well as the bayou class, will it perform well under very wet muddy conditions, how deep can I go before i have to worry about water in the belt area, etc. I will find out on my own soon but would like your feedback so I can better understand my new ride and all of its strenghts and weeknesses.

Keep the front/top of the gas tank above water and you should be o.k. The transmissions air intake is up there in front of the gas tank. If you get water over the front fenders look out your about to be towed out.
When you get the belt wet just get to dry ground, put it in low and start driving aound while keeping the rpm's up. Soon enough it will start to grip better and better. I've had polaris owners tell me to put it in nuetral and let it idle, but I'm usually wanting to get going again sooner than that would allow.
As far as durability, the praries are as good as the bayou's. Just make sure you keep an eye on the air filter, it seems to get dirtyer than my bayou's did.

i have a 1999 prairie 300 its given me a few problems but only one major one. i had to get a new valve and valve sproket beacause mine was bent . they gave me a new belt about 2 weeks ago because of a recall but its already giving me probelms i hope its because there was justsome water in there and its not messed up.other than that its a pretty good alll around quad.

my Friend ricks has had to have a new belt at a cost of over 100 dollars, but other than that he rides it hard and it has gone very well.
