Mistake? Please answer or my Memorial Day may be wasted!!

Hello all,
I accidentally put an inline fuel filter on the wrong line Instead of putting it on the fuel line, I put it on the other line that comes out of the back of the petcock that goes to the top of the carburetor (what does this line do?). Anyhow, the shop won't be open for me to buy a new hose till after Memorial day. Will it hurt anything to run it this way?
Thanks in advance. And yes, I am an idiot!!

i think that is a vacuume line. i think you can just leave it there for the time being. when you get a little time, you can take back out and splice or replace the hose.
the vacuume line is to shut off the fuel to the carb unless there is vacuume present in the line, to prevent fuel from running through the carbs into the cyllenders and hydrolocking when you try to start. used to happen on the trailers quite a bit. that is my thought on this, somebody else may have another idea here, but i think you will be ok leaving the filter in place for now. take it back out when you get the time.
