I have an opportunity to buy a 2000 Lakota with only about 5 hours on it, for only $3250! My hubby says, "No, we are going to get the 2001, because it has been modified." I told him the only modifications are, they took the racks and front grille off and changed the color. Am I right? Help!

you are right all they did was take the racks off i asked the dealer when i baught my mojave because they had a 2000 lakota for 3100 i asked if they changed anything from 2000 to 2001 he said just the racks.....

Get the one with the racks because you can only carry so much gas,coolers of ice cold drinks and other important stuff in your pockets while out for a long ride.

They did more than change the racks. They shortened the swingarm,widened to front and back,changed the camber. It has different front tires on it. Dirtwheels totally slammed the machine in the Jan. 2001 edition.
