05 Brute won't start
 

Hey guys,
I've got an 05 650 that I've had since new. It's a great machine. Now yesterday I pull it out of the garage and fire it up. Runs OK. Take it for a cruise and it only tops out at about 35 mph. It killed once on the way back as well. Now, It won't start. Air cleaner is off and the plugs are Ok. I gave it a shot of carb cleaner and still won't fire. Always ran fine til now. Any ideas?
I'm thinking maybe carb cleaning as its been sitting for about a month.

make sure a wire didnt rattle loose and off the either of the 2 coils, happens kinda often

IMO if you shot with carb cleaner and still not fire up its prolly not firing to ignite cleaner or compression left? I would check fire and then compression, then fuel last, fuel system needs them two thing to work also...Check plugs also.

Stupid question?? should these machines run without a battery??

Not long todays atvs need 12volts most of the times to run correct....Do you not have an battery on it?

Funny what a couple new plugs will do.....Fires up now, but won't run right. It will run with the choke on and then when you take it off it will idle. Put in gear and give a little throttle and it kills.

I had the battery off to charge it. Seemed to turn over slow, but it's got 14 volts. Time for a new battery maybe.
