Talking Daughters 2006 KFX 80 needs more GO!!

My daughter has been racing a 2006 KFX80 up against kids riding hoped up Apex 90s last weekend she came home with a first place trophy but had to give it everything she had to do so. Any tricks or cheap mods I can do to make it a bit faster? It's stock now with all restrictors removed. K&N filter 4 inch wheel spacers. I've heard you can remove some of the clutch weights and a CVT callor. Anyone ever do this? Also was told to drill a few holes in the air box. If I do will I need to jet it? Any help would be great. Theres a few pissed off fathers from the last race that I'm sure are going to be making their $6,000 Apexes go a bit faster after loosing to a $1,500 quad lol

Is there a rev limiter that can be unhooked?

More air means more fuel. You need bigger jets to compensate.
Nothing to unhook to disable rev limitter that's programmed in igniter.
See if there is a big-bore kit like 90 cc or 100 cc for that engine.
There is no replacement for displacement as you've heard.

That's kinda what I was figuring. (More air = bigger jets). Problem is they grow out of these quads so fast. Makes u think twice about dumping money into them.

I believe the KFX 80 is basically a LT80, just with Kawi plastic, in that case, talk to Jack (LT80) on the forum, he builds racing LT80s that will make those Apex's look like they are going backwards.

Yes it is a 2 stroke 80, I ordered a Uni power up kit for it. comes with a filter, reeds and jets, Also ordered a spacer that goes behind the clutch plates to give it a little more low to mid range power. Im going to lighten the clutches to 180 grams and pull 2 roller wieghts out as well. she only has 3 or 4 more races this season so i think ill try those things first and if thats not enough ill pipe it and have the head ported and shaved.. They grow out of the mini quads so fast its hard to dump much money into them LOL.. I sent LT80 a message but havent heard back from him yet.. Thank you All for responding and for your input....

Ya, dont waste the money, Jack runs most of his modded motors on stock pipes, says they do fine. All the other things you are doing, the clutch mods and such, will give her the extra zip off the line and out of the corners..........LOL......6k Apex quads getting beat......that has to be fun to watch.!!
