My son's bayou's front brake's are shot after 200 mile's.Is this normal or what? we have not been in mud or water very much.

How is he using them? I down shift more often than use my brakes. Although my son took my bayou and he shot the brakes the first time out! he needs to downshift more.

my brakes have lasted for 9 years so far, but I don't take habbit of using them all the time. BUt lately since I have been riding in mud the past few rides, my brakes went away quickly.

The 220 brakes arent sealed. Mud and water screws them up. Trust me i know. Mine were fine untill i rode up a creek for a while.

My brakes are shot right now to, they've been that way for a year or so. The brakes do suck on the 220 but now that I don't have them I've noticed that I really don't need them, just down shifting slows her down good.

The shoes on my '97 model still have plenty of surface material on them. But then I seldom use them as well.

Still, I wonder if premature wear from sand and mud is not more likely when you adjust them closer to the drum. I keep mine plenty loose and ride through a lot of mud as well.
