I recently purchased a used Prairie 360 with 1250kms on the bike. Wasnt running when I bought it, it was sitting awhile and i had to clean the carb and put fresh gas in it. Fired right up afterwards but trying to drive it, low and reverse work fine but trying to get it into high makes a grinding noise and when it does go in, it will pop out after just moving a few feet.

Ive knocked the idle right down to barely running and itll still make the grinding noise. I took the belt cover off and while on jackstands, watched everything work as it should other than high gear. I havent adjusting the shift linkage but i took off the gear selector track and tried to switch between the 4 gears and still no luck in high.

Is there something im missing to check or does it sound like something internal? Anyone else come across this problem?

 

Sounds internal like someone shifted while still rolling. If your gonna work on it get a factory service manual. Had a 300 Praire years back and was a great machine!

 

Yea I was hoping not to lol, but I pulled the motor last night.

I had a prairie 300 a few years ago, no complaints with that bike

 

did you ever ever figure out the problem? I have a 2006 360 4x4 that will grind into gears and today I had it pop out of high gear while driving where it broke the gated plastic part.
