"91 Bayou 300 4X4 won't shift. I need help Please!
Stepping hard and pulling up on shift lever I finally got it into neutral. It took a long time but I'm not sure what I did to get it into neutral. I then got the engine running well. I pulled the right side cover off to check the clutches. I see nothing loose, broken, cracked. or out of place. Then again, I have never seen the inside of an ATV before! I replaced the cover, adjusted the clutch per the manual. I started it up, I shifted it into 1st (I think), gave it throttle and it didn't move. I revved it up and it didn't move. I can freely push the machine back and forth It is like it is in neutral. I then tried to shift it back into neutral and can't get it to go into neutral. I tried re-adjusting the clutch several more times to no avail. .
Can anyone help me diagnose this issue? What is wrong with this thing. I've been trying to figure this out for a couple of days and don't seem to be making any progress. PLEASE HELP! Thank you |

Never force things, if a bike won't change gear using normal force while rocking the bike backwards and forwards, give up and take a look at the mechanism. You will probably have bent or broken part of the selector mechanism or clutch lifter. As you seem to have little "mechanical sympathy" probably best to let an ATV or motorcycle mechanic look at it. |
Have you tried ajusting the screw and nut adjustment on the right side clutch cover
