I have a 2001 lakota and have had it for about 2 months. There is something wrong with it and i can not figure out what it is. This is what it does when i go to climb a hill or try a wheelie it just boggs out like it has no power. So I took the airfilter out and cleaned it and put it back in it helped a little. I run it a little today with out the airfilter or airbox lid and it did not bogg down or sputter. Any help guys. Any and all help will be appraciated.

I think the float in the carb is set to low. I don't think something like this will be covered under warranty.

If taking the air box off makes it ok, then it is running rich. All that extra air helps lean the mixture and gets it closer to the right ratio. The float could be set too high or the needle and seat might not be holding. If it is only two months old it will be covered under warranty. Take it back to the dealer and explain how it runs and what you did.

Yea thats just another sign of a too rich mixture. You need some carb work. Make sure your choke is not hanging and staying on.

I have had a 2001 lakota sport since last August and had a problem with the carb. It would run out the over flow hose and would,nt stop unless you turned off the petcock at the tank.Took the carb off and removed the bowl and there was a little piece of white silicone sealant down in the needle valve and held the float open,so if you tear it apart check for stuff like that.
