in a drag, what wins.

Its a tie. Lets just leave it at that before we get to the "my friends 300ex smoked my mojave" or vice versa. If you do a search on the subject, you should find lots of posts about the subject way back.

Yeah it would be to close to call, probably whoever go the jump would win, now if you were to do it in the summer heat, over and over again, the Mojave would eventually be faster because of the liquid-cooling. On a track the 300EX would probably win their though since it's lighter and has better suspension (my opinion, I have owned both).

Does liquid cooling, DOHC, and high compression make up for 50cc's?

How can the 300ex have better suspention if the mojave has more travel?

because of liquid cooling and reverse proceedure im thinking about getting a mojave, but are they reliable?

yamahagye 07-22-2002 12:40 PM

The liquid cooling, dual overhead cams and high compression piston do make up for the 50cc difference. Who says that more travel equals better suspension? The spring rates are different on both quads. The mojave has a stiffer set up, so it will have a worse ride on low speed terrain but will probably be better than the 300ex for long jumps. Mojaves are also very reliable.

Just a note, its not a 50cc difference, its actually only 33cc difference. The Mojave is 249cc and the 300EX is 282cc. But yes the high-comp. and DOHC and liquid-cooling do make up for it. And why do so many people complain about the reverse procedure on the 300EX? Its not bad one you get used to it, yes the Mojave is better, but the 300EX isn't bad at all.

I have both, and the Mojave is faster, it has a tighter turning radius, and handles just as well. In a drag race the mojave would get the holeshot, and win on top, but I love noth of them. Only thing that I dont like on the mojave is kick starting, but it always starts on 1st,or 2nd kick.

I have never owned a 300ex, but I have owned a few 250x's (just like the 300). I have also owned a couple of mojave's, a 89, 94, and 97. The 250x have had no major problems. Every mojave I have owned or seen has the same problems. The 94 and the 97 wore the cams out, even with regular oil changes. The kick start gears on all three wore so badly that it and the shaft it sets on had to be replaced. The 89 and the 94 had both blown the rear shock. The 97 had the decompression mechanism wear out. They also seemed to need rebuilding more often then the 250x. I rode the 250x's just as hard as the mojave's. A friend now owns my 89 and is still having problems.

I feel confident that my Mojave will smoke a 300EX.

they go in this order, for the overall package winner: 300EX, warrior, mojave, then the blaster
