jet kit?

big...Go to your dealer and get a 145 jet and go by your hardware store and get 2 small washers for your needles. Take the 142 jet out of your rear carb and put in front carb and put the 145 in rear carb. Shem your needles and save the $50 for the Diamond-G CDI and ride on!

Encore454, question from the ingnorant, what is the deal with shimming the needles? What is the indicator that I need to do that and what does it do from a performance perspective.
I'm running 145 and 148 jets.

Sgt...First, I am not a carb expert. At idle, your mixture screw determines how much gas gets in. From idle up to 1/2 or so it is your needles. Your needles work with your jets on the way up and at top throttle, your jets are doing all the work. If you only change jets, you will not help the bottom end. The needles are easy to shim. Just take them with you and get the smallest washer that will work. I used stainless steel on my friends but do not know if that is best. If you move the needles too far out, it will bog when you stab the throttle. Let me know if you have any other questions.

If you are not getting any bog when you punch the throttle, you do not need to go to the fifth slot. I do not know anyone that can get enough air in to be able to put the needle in the third slot. Try it, if you get a bog, go back to the forth slot. With your other mods, it might just work!
