ATV Action's reply to Mojave test
Okay, I'm a stubborn bastard who just won't let things lie when I know I'm right. Last week I posted about ATV Action's biased test on the Mojave and where they inaccurately stated that the Mojave was 40 lbs heavier than the 300EX. I called BS and emailed them as much. Here is their response:

I don't think so. That is actually 3lbs lighter than the 377lbs it is listed at dry on the Honda website. |

Looks like "DJ" needs to learn how to use a scale...
either that or he's on the take... it is probably both... |
ATV Action's reply to Mojave test
I think I would send back another reply........ That is rediculous for a "professional". I think I would try and go above his head, too.

ATV Action's reply to Mojave test
I was not too impressed with his answer. It just reinforced my view that ATV Action can't progress any further than their junior high target readership that laps up eveything they print with nary a question.

I agree totally. What set me off was that he would not admit they made a mistake and proceeded to treat me like I was an idiot. The last email he sent me ended with him telling me I should weigh the machines to prove him wrong. I mean, what else do I have to do to make my point clear that they made a completely inaccurate statement.
Like you said, I won't be buying their magazine. It is easy enough to vote with my wallet. ATV Action simply isn't credible and when you lose credibility in the publishing world what do you have? Just the personal opinion of some arrogant editor. Who gives a sh!t about his opinion? I have not yet read the cannible/Z400 shootout but I have heard about it before in these forums. Sounded like a load of bunk that will just serve to alienate more readers. I think ATV Action better look at the world around them since low quality magazines won't have much staying power with the internet just getting bigger and bigger. The lastest issue I have of ATV Action is from October. There is no mention of the KXF 700. Go to Off-road.com and you can read all about it. ATV Actions days are numbered. |
ATV Action's reply to Mojave test
In December 2001 I bought the one and only copy of ATVAction. I bought it because it was the entry level quad shoot out and I wanted to see how the lakota did. Back then I had no idea what this mag was about, but I found it odd that they left the 300EX out of this shoot out. Still today I wonder why they did that.
The shoot out consist of the Blaster, Mojave , Lakota, 250EX, and trail blazer. All comments referring to the mojave where deffinately to detur any want to be buyer from buying that machine. Quote: With liquid cooling, four valves and double over head cams, you expect the mojave to be a rocket ship-it's not. It's a dissapointing engine thats difficult to hop up. kick starting the mojave is always a mystery-will it take one kick or ten? The fully manual transmission is decent, but nothing special. overview quote of thier opinion of the Mojave, Quote: Odley enough this is the machine we like the least, but for the rider who has to absolutely have a manual clutch and has to be a Kawasaki, the Mojave's for you. Now if that aint a total dis job by the mag towards the mojave what is. I brought this mag to work to post for the blaster guys who have been argueing about some stuff. But this is the one and only time I bought this mag and after reading it, I will never again. By the way, the 250EX was the slowest at everything, worst suspention of all, and 2nd to last on hp, but it won the shoot out. So how many of you are surprised!!!!! |
ATV Action's reply to Mojave test
I remember that farce of a shootout. I believe the 250EX beat the Mojave in track times as well. If I recall they slammed the Mojave for its manual clutch and kick start and then turned around and said these features were great on the Blaster. When you start thinking about it, almost all of their shootouts are full of contraditctions.
