Tecate-4
#1
I would just like to know what most of you Team Green riders think of the Tecate-4. I love the bike its fast but with my soon to be KX500 motor it will be a Banshee killer. I know it is short and narrow but thought it was a good start for improvment not discontinuation. i would like to see a new Kawasaki in the same styling.

You will be glad to know that Kawasaki is working on a new racing quad using the kx-250 motor again. They have an article in the new Dirt Wheels I believe that shows pictures of what it may look like. They also have a picture of Yamaha's new 750cc Banshee. I am very anxious to see if the idea works. I was a big fan of the kxf-250 and was very dissapointed to see it discontinued. A guy that I went to school with still to this day has an 87 Tecate 4 that is in mint condition.

Everyone must remember all of these bikes are over 10 years old. It's not like it is 87 or 88 and we have all stock machines to compare. Since then, most people have rebuilt them and that changes the stock configuration. And even stock not all motors that are the same due not run the same (ie bearing clearances etc). Trust me I work in the Automotive Industry and you can have two identical motors and one will make me HP than the other (also don't always take advertised horsepower as fact). All I know, is my 1st stock 87 Tecate-4 ran equal with an 87 Banshee (in 1987 we rode on pavement and switched riders for equality).
