engine backfire in reverse on 650? DUH, override button!!
#1
Has anyone else experienced this? It runs strong and good going forward but reverse it backfires and has little power. Any ideas. It is stock and is at about 9-10 hours.
Oh yeah, if I just back up with little throttle it is fine but if I give it more gas then it starts to backfire. I got stuck in some snow and had to back out and was barely able to do so.

it's completely normal bro, it's a reverse rev limiter.. you gotta push that little " override " button to make it go full throttle in reverse.

See, if you guys have ever driven a Polaris you would have figured this out back in 1993 when Polaris first came out with the "we better not let the idiots go to fast backward button".

A friend was riding my polaris one day and he went to back up. The engine was popping and he looked at me stunned. I yelled for him to hit the override (he hadn't seen it yet).
Well my polaris had mild portwork, head cut for race gas, Hot seat pipe, hypershift clutch kit, boyesen rad vavle, 38mm Mikuni TMX carb, etc.
He had the throttle wide open when he hit the override. The bike jumped so hard he went over the handlebars.
