Started to do Nyroc's muffler mod on my 03 Prairie and
decided to take the muffler off to make it easier, removed left rear wheel
to get to header bolts and thought that while had them off I might as well weigh them.

Stock rim with new ATR 28 lbs
Stock muffler with rear header pipe 8 lbs

After market mufflers should be quite a bit lighter.

 

you wouldn't happen to know the weight of stocks rims w/ stock tires would you?, so i could compare some things when i get my new tires

 

Never had a chance to weigh stock Dunlops, dealer exchanged them
before I picked it up. I think the Dunlops weigh about 15 lbs front and 17 lbs rear
and the stock rims are about 8 lbs. This is from reading other posts.

I have weighed my stock tires/wheels. Fronts weigh 18lbs and the rears weigh 24lbs.

The rear tire that comes on the P650 is identical to the one on my 2000 Kodiak. When I had the Mudbugs mounted I weighed the wheels and tires separate. Wheels weighed 8lbs and the tires weighed 16lbs. Together they did weigh 24lb also. So, this tells me that the P650 wheels have to weigh 8lbs and the tires of course weigh 16lbs.

Thanks a lot Oxygen for those numbers on the ATR's. I have always hoped someone would weigh them. Atv Connection magazine has two articles written about the ATR's. In one, the guys weighed the tires and got 18lbs for the fronts and 20lbs for the rear. This is right in line with what you got Oxygen and confirms my weight on the wheels.

thanks, i hopt to be gettin some new tires by spring vaca. i have narrowed it down to 25"or 26" mudlites, i was wondering how good the 25" tires bite and are the tread bigger then stock tires? becuase i really dont need tread as big as the 26", i am also considering 25" ATRs now would these do a decent job in mud becuase some of the trails i ride get pretty nasty but i only ride them maybe 7-8 times a year. so what im trying to say is will the 25" mudlites be worth it?

 

nightryder, I think the Mudlites will be worth it. They are 3lbs lighter for the front tires and 2lb lighter than the rear tires of the ATR's. Go to www.atvnorth.com and you can get them for $215.55 to your door.

I called ITP today and confirmed a few weights. The ATR's are 8"=18lbs 10"=21lbs. The Mudlites 25x8x12=15lbs and the 25x10x12=19lbs. So, the Mudlites are less weight "easier to wheelie", cheaper in price "easier on the pocketbook" and should perform better in the mud "self explanitory". I guess I when the times comes I will go with the Mudlites.

 

Nightrider If you can swing it get both I did. No one tire does at it all. I keep them both sets mounted the ATR,s on my stock rims ant the Mudlites on ITP,s. This way Im allways ready for anything. ATR,S rock on the hard pack I will put them on after spring breakup. I like the Mudlites alot they just roost in the snow . This is a hard combo to beat. If you get both get the Lights in 26s with the big lugs you will be running the ATR,s in the places you would not want the big lugs.Hope this helps
