Hey Everybody,
I have a 2000 Mojave. I do all maintenance by the book. Here is what the bike is doing. Let's say you let the bike sit in neutral for 24 hours. You crank the bike and let it idle for about 2 mins. You hold in the clutch and put it first gear. It lunges foward and the engine dies...It's like I didn't even have the clutch in. Now you crank it back up with it still in first gear and the clutch in.(you feel the engine rotate and release the basket) Everything is fine the rest of the day. Any ideas???? Thanks, |
My mojave did that I just kept my foot on the back brake and gave it gas so it wouldn't jump. It has nothing to do with leaving it in neutral for 24hrs.

The only reason I provided the time frame was for people asking how long had it been since you had "used" the transmission...(i.e. oil circulation through the engine and tranny) Holding the brake and giving it gas to keep it from going dead I don't think is a good solution. Don't get me wrong...I do appreciate the reply to the post but to make a long story short, it simply shouldn't do that and in my opinion something is wrong... Thanks, |
hey, my 2000 mojave jumps forward into 1st gear too!!!, my brothers 2000 dosent. IT might be our clutch cables need adjusting, like we are not fullly disengaging the clutch, any one have some ideas?

My 95 mojave does that all the time when I first start it and try and take off after that it`s fine all day.What I do now is let it warm up a few extra minutes and it don`t jump I think it does that because the engine is not warm enough.

My 300EX does it too, but not as much in 1st as in reverse. It actually barks teh tires on my garage floor. I just replaced the clutch plates thinking that was the problem but it wasnt cause it still does it. I dont know what it is, not the cable either, I have adjusted it all the way in and out and it sitll does it.

Does the 300ex do it only when you first crank it up or after it has been running for awhile? My Mojave does it ONLY when I first crank it up after it has sat for at least 12 hours. My dealer said he has seen this especially in Motorcycles. He is pulling the cover and will check the plates for warpage. He did recommend going to a synthetic oil but he warned about not being able to go back once I go synthetic. He thinks if the plates are not warped then a synthetic based oil will help keep the plates from sticking. |
