Problem with Prairie 360
 

I went for a ride today with a group of people, we were running along at about 3/4 throttle and the thing was running great. Then when we slowed down and were riding up some hills it started messing up and running a little hot. When I gave it gas, it took off like normal then after about five feet it would almost die like it was running out of gas or fouling a plug. I got the tool kit out, checked the plug and it was fine. Then I drained the float bowl with the gas in the reserve position thinking it might have some water in the tank since it always ran great before. That didnt help so I said forget it, and kept putting along with the group but not riding anywhere near hard. Has this happened to anyone else, and what could it be???

Iv'e had mine cut out on me after riding for a while, then shutting it off for a few minutes, then riding again. But it only lasted 10 sec or so & then was fine, & hasn't happened but a few times, still dont understand why it has done that.. is your problem simular to mine, or is it more severe??

Bad sliders? I had this happen to me last spring. When it dies you can pull start it real easy. If it is your sliders it gets worse and worse to the point it is easier to push it than drive it.

My son's 360 has the same problem. The dealer just changed the complete carb and the exciter in the electrical system. The dealership said they took it for a test ride and it's better, but I haven't got it out yet to see. The carb and exciter was Kawi's suggestion. Hopefully it works, but this was the fourth time back to the dealer and I'm not overly convinced it will work.

What goes bad with the slider and the exciter, mine is exactally 17 days out of warrenty and if it has to has a bunch of parts put on it then I'm going to be one pissed off person if I end up paying for it.........

Mine did the same thing 2 weekends in a row. When it got, hot did the red oil light on the handlebars come on and did it make a funny noise when going down hill not pushing the trottle? My problem is that the oil cooler fan is not turning on and the engine gets extremely hot and I have to stop and let it cool down or ride through a cold lake. When it gets hot it acts like it wants to bog down when pushing the trottle. I am taking mine to the dealership to get it fixed. Did you get yours fixed yet and what was the problem so I will know for the future?

My red light did not come on but it did seem extremely hot and when I am on slower trails the fan seems to run almost constantly. Today though I filled the tank up with the higher octane gas from casey's, I believe its 89 octane, I had been using the lower quality gas from there but decided to get the better stuff. After I rode around the yard in low for a while it seemed to run just a little cooler but not much and it didnt hesitate at all. I'm thinking that my problem may have had something to do with gas quality, i.e. water in th gas or to low of octane. I guess I'll find out this weekend. If it messes up then I'll be seeing the dealer on sat afternoon.

My son's had his 360 out twice now since the new carb and exciter. The problem seems to have gone away. As far as gasoline causing it, I don't think so, I have run nothing but quality 91 octane is his bike since new and use the exact same gas on my two Arctic Cats and they haven't missed a beat. My fan always seemed to work correctly. Good Luck.
