i have a 1998 4x4 Suzuki quad and gas is leaking into the carburetor how can I fix it

Hardly a Kids Quad then, but your float needle is stuck open, usually grit under the needle, but faulty needle or sunk float are other possibilities. On Suzukis this shouldn't matter too much as Suzuki fuel taps are worked by vacuum and should turn the fuel off when the engine stops unless you have the tap on prime, which you shouldn't, except for starting after running out of fuel. Some 90s Suzukis have a low level tank and a fuel pump, but same applies, when engine isn't running, fuel is not fed to carb.

Yup, clean the carb paying attention to the float needle. If the problem persists you may need a carb kit with the new needle and seat.
Running non ethanol fuel will help too.
