2009 Eton 90R clicks when I try to start it

Hello,

I have a 2009 Eton 90R Viper 4 Stroke. I have to replace the Starter clutch and when I put the bike back together it won't start when I try to use the electric start. I keep hearing a Clicking noise coming from under the right rear fender. I also put in a new battery and it still just clicks. Hopefully someone keep help me out here.

Thanks,

Bill

If you removed the earth wire from the engine, did you put it back properly? I go for the 12v test lamp method of checking starter circuits. Connect one wire from lamp to battery neg, the other to live post on starter. Press start button, if the solenoid clicks but the lamp doesn't light, you have a faulty solenoid. If the lamp lights, you have a faulty starter. To double check the earth, connect the lamp to an unpainted, uncorroded part of the engine and starter live, press start button again, if the lamp doesn't light, but it did when connected to battery neg, you have a bad earth.

Merryman,

Thank you for replying to my post and I am sorry for the delayed reply. That was great information. I found that it was actually my kick starter assembly that was out of alignment. When I removed the left hand side case, the bike would start up as soon as I hit the start button. ONce I got the kick start assembly aligned correctly and installed the side case I was good to go.
