Default 2005 Sportsman 90 - Blinking Oil Light - HELP!!

The kids have already bruned through the two tanks of premix for break in and only used about 1/2 of what was in the oil tank.

So last night I filled up the oil tank with Polaris Premium 2-cycle oil. It's all the Polaris dealer had this week and they said it would be ok.
Topped off the gas tank and sent them out to ride. After about an hour my son comes walking home and tells me that
the oil light is blinking when he is wide open. At least he remembered to shut it down.

I checked the oil tank and it is full. So I took it for a quick spin and experienced the same thing he was. At slow speeds - no light.

I did not have the chance to tear into the atv last night and we are going trail riding
this weekend for the first time. Of course the dealer can't get the atv back to me in time.

Oil pump bad? How can I check it?
Air in the oil pump lines? How can I bleed it?
Oil sensor bad? How to check it?
Any ideas?

I'd go to premix.

I would really prefer to just keep the set up the way it is. I hate doing the premix thing.

I know the manual calls for 6.4 oz to 2 gallons gas for break in. But if I did go premix I am not sure what mix ration should actually be if nothing is in the oil pump.

Said the same thing, until I went to premix. Really, it's better. Less smoke, less carbon build up, reduced plug fouling.

But if you want to keep it, I'd take it to a mechanic. No sense in guess work and risking your engine.

Any idea on what the premix ratio should be?

Depends on the type of oil. I used a semi-synthetic rated up to 50:1 but mix about 38:1.

My son also has an '05 SP 90. The oil light has always blinked at full speed from day one. Even the dealer said it is a defect. Just keep an eye on the oil tnak to be sure it's full. Also make sure it keeps smoking a little, but not a lot. You should be fine. Have fun.

our 05 pred. 90 has done this as well I think it might be a vibration issue since it only does it at high speeds or higher rpms do you notice it does it in neutral at hiigher roms as well? Ours does we double check the oil pump setting and everything was fine so we just kept at it and have had no problems at all. 32:1 is a godd safe ratio to mix that quad at or just about any 2-stroke for that matter.

Lot of people have found their mini's don't do well at 32:1. Even if it runs right (some don't) you may be back to smoke, carbon build up and plug fouling.

Looks like the light blinks at high RPMs in neutral as well.

Just a vibration issue or faulty sensor?
