ITP Sand Stars for Mini's
Just wondering if anybody is running these tires on a LT80 (18x9.50x8) Sand Stars and how do like them. I’m running a set of 18x8.50x8 6 paddle Gliders and feel I need a lot more tire in the sand. The bike has no problem spinning the tires now and I feel is could handle the 8 taller paddles with ease.
Thanks Ron |

I bought a set of the rear Sand Stars for my sons Lt80 for Xmas. I feel like they work great on it. He has been able to climb everything much better. It gets about the right amount of traction, still able to spin them but hooks up well on the dunes. The tires are slightly shorter than stock tires so the gearing is now lower, I got with Jack and he hooked me up with a set of 428 sprockets to gear it back up. Just got a set of the front Sand Stars for the last dune trip we took. They are only offered on one certain wheel, a .190" ITP wheel. I had to reverse the fronts and put the valve stems inside just to put it back out to stock width! Also the fronts are narrower than the stock tires, work fine but don't look nearly as cool as wider sand tires. They steer well in the sand, but would float better if they were a wider tire. Overall I am a bit disappointed in the fronts. |

I'm gonna get the Rear Sand Stars for our LT 80. Taking a trip in two weeks to Florence, OR.
Will let you know how they do. I'm also looking for new sprockets, for the 428 chain. Want 13 thru 15 for the front, and 26 for the rear.............. |

The 18" sandstar rears are 6 paddle but all the ads say "sand stars 8 paddle design......" but the little ones are a 6 paddle. We run sand drags on a mini they are light and hookup well. I think the 8 paddle hauler in a 18 inch wont be as quick as a 6 that will spin a little more as the bikes and kids are light. Skat track will make you a 5 or 6 paddle hauler too they'll weigh about 1 lb less per side than the sandstars. Both have a 7/8" paddle and work well. if you get 8 paddle haulers put a little more air in them like 8lbs they'll spin and not bog the bike too bad. Sand stars are tougher to tear up/ stronger paddle. Jims sand toys in oklahoma can have the 6 paddle hauler made for about $190pair on .125 douglas but they take like 2 months to get em.

Thanks for the info, interesting I E-Mailed ITP and they said the mini paddles were 8 paddle 20 mm tall sad they don’t even know what they have. So in the dunes for climbing what do you think will work best the Sand Star or the 6 Paddle Hauler or somthing else I’m thinking the 8 paddle will be to much now. I’m running the Glider 6 paddle but the paddles are real short and there OK for small hills only the LT has the power just needs more grip.
The LT80 is stock with air box mods, Air filter reeds & jetting, clutch work, chain and gearing change. It pulls pretty good off the line. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks Everyone |

Glad to come across this thread
I'm looking also to get a set for my daughter's 80. Not that I want to take over the thread. But, one question I have is, on the Sand Stars is there a side to side motion with them? I know my wife's quad there is, with her sand stars at slow speeds. |
