Default What size quad for my 6 year old?

My 6 year old daughter wants a 4-wheeler for Christmas. Her cousin has a 50cc but her knees hit her elbows and she is only a little over 3 feet tall. She is not very experienced with driving on her on(she usually rides my Honda with me). What would be a good starter size for her that she won't outgrow next year.I didn't want to spend over $1000.She ways about 50 pounds. Thanks

What type of terrain? Are you mechanically inclined? If you are just wanting a machine for the back yard, many companies make a full size 50cc mini. For soft surfaces (mud or sand) or moderate hills, you need to think it through a little more. More info would help us give you advice.

I am not mechanically inclined at all. She would just ride in the backyard and dirt trails around our house.Mostly flat terrain .Is the full size 50cc mini bigger than most other 50's? Thanks

Yes, something like the Eton or Kasea Skyhawk 50 is larger than a Kawasaki or Suzuki 50. I just don't spend much time at the Yamaha dealer but I think their 50 is larger too. I would avoid the "mail order" quads unless you are willing to work on them. Find a good local dealer.

I would highly recommend the Desert Cat 50. Yes it is more than $1000 but not much and it is up there with the other name brands that are $2300-$2500 You can go a little bigger and limit it back but the 90cc Desert cat she would have alot of room to grow into. The 50cc is smaller but she would fit on that for a while. Check out Raceway and if you see something you like call and talk to John . He will steer you in the right direction. He WILL NOT rip you off and will take care of you after the sale.

Yeah, I don't know about those age recommendations. My daughter is 7, but she's also 75lbs and about 4 and a half feet.
I was looking at that desert cat 90, but I think it's more than the lt80 if I remember right. If I'm gonna buy an "off brand" I'd like it to be cheaper than a major brand. I don't lend that free shipping much credence either. If I go down to the Suzuki dealership I won't have to pay shipping either. If I had the money right now, I'd probably be willing to pay $1400-$1500 either out the door or to my door for it. (DC90)

Sparky, msrp is $2300 plus tax on the lt80 versus $1600 for the DC90 (no tax if its shipped from out of state). And set them side by side and compare and you'll see what I mean when I say the Unison is a better quad. If you can turn a wrench, mail order is the only way to go.

If your in the market, check out the GPX. Same manufacturer as Unison.

The DC90 is very nice for the money and with the shipping it is hard to beat. I know for a suzuki mini 50cc it is $1800. I cant see spending that much on a 50cc.

Both the Unison and GPX look a lot like the Polaris, is there any real connection?

Yeah, I guess I was thinking it was the DC90 that was $1750 and the LT80 that was $1600. I know I can get the LT80 for $1750 around here. Long story, but I was riding with some people and found out one was a GM for a Suzuki/Honda dealership. He was pissed after I told him a story and told me that when I want a new quad again, to come see him he would easily beat the price I paid without adding a crate fee. I bought mine for $5099 + $200 dealer prep(crate fee) + $23 dealer had to pay to the state of NH. So basically I would ave paid $5124 instead of $5324 and I wouldn't have had to drive 3 hours.
