'05 Yamoto/Patriot Won't Idle after Warming Up, Help!!

On our 250 we need to push the foot brake and pull the hand brake at the same time we try to start it. Does this sound right? My husband is just relaying info to me from what the guy told him when he bought it. Of course he has a habit of being so excited over something and thinking he "already knows", that he doesn't fully pay attention. I hate to tell him that just because he has driven a friends 4-wheeler years ago that he doesn't know everything, but I don't have the heart. That is why I am trying to offer some suggestions that I get on here. We did charge the battery fully from what the charger said. He set the charger to 2-volt, does that also sound right? It didn't take very long at all to fully charge. The charger is brand new also. I have personally tried starting it a few different ways by pushing more or less on both brakes but nothing changes. You all have been great!!! Thanks for answering!! We have tried calling the guy that we bought the 250 from but his "mantainance guy wasn't in". Go figure.

Patroit has a phone number you can call with problems 949 488 0434. I would check with them and see if they make a 90cc model. You should have recieved an owners manual with all your 4 wheelers and they should show how to properly start them and there should be a trouble shooting section to help with normal problems. If you didn't get the manuals with your 4 wheelers I would get in touch with the people that you bought them from abd see if they can get you one. Good luck..

I was just checking the Patriot website and they only have listed 4-stroke atv's. We were told that our Patriot 90cc is a 2-stroke. How can you tell? I am almost positive it has 2-stroke oil in it, would this mess it up? The website doesn't list a 90cc, which still baffles me as to where in the heck the 90 came from?!?!?! Also does anyone know how the warranty works in this type of situation? We bought the atv from a guy who buys a couple of them at a time and puts them together and sells them. Does the warranty still apply even though he isn't able to work on it himself?? I should have just bought 3 new bikes for Christmas instead,

One or the other brake should do the trick. Ok, the battery is ruled out then. Have you tried push starting it? Curious if it will run with that? Some have keys, it is on right? Some also have a orange kill switch on the left side (hand). See one? If so, make sure it on also

Desertbum,
She says it runs fine till it warms up then it dies and wont restart. So I really dont think it is a switch if she can get it started in the first place.

I know. Please read the full thread before assuming =) "She" is talking about two different quads. Here is a quote " I have personally tried starting it a few different ways by pushing more or less on both brakes but nothing changes"

Thanks to all of you, we took both of them this evening to a friend to have him check them out after trying to figure it out on our own. If he is correct and correctly fixed them......
The Yomoto/Patriot 90 needed the carb. adjusted. (which we tried doing but we must not have done it right)
The Kazuma Falcon 250, the carb. was put together wrong.
Both were fixed and up and running in about 45 minutes.
You guys have been great in giving us some ideas to check on. Hopefully we have the problem solved!! Your right DesertBum, I am a "she", one that is finally very happy that my 3 guys (hubby, 9 yr old and 4 yr old) are happy!!! Now where is my quad, do they make pink ones??!?!?!?!
Thanks again,
