Default Fuel petcock

This morning on the way out to work I notice gas under the quad. Gas was coming from the exhaust port. When I got come, I pull on the pull rope real easy to see if the cylinder was full of gas. It was so I took out the spark plug & pulled to get the gas out of the cylinder. Turn the fuel off. I put a new plug but it was flooded from all the gas.So, what do i do to get this motor to fire up. Do i need to chamge out the oil in the transmission. I called the yamaha dealer to see what is the price of a shee fuel petcok. But they was closed.

If it's a four stroke I'd drain the oil for sure. If its a two stroke I'd pull the plug and stand it up on the front of the quad for a while.

Maybe Jack Moore could respond, he'd be the best one to answer any lt80 questions.

Any year shee petcock. You just cut the tubes down a lil.
Remove the plug and spin till all the fuel is blown out the plug hole (use a rag over it). Make SURE that the plug cap is nowhere near the fuel or a ground as it'll explode and burn.
Let it sit a while to dry out, install the plug, give it full throttle and turn over till it starts.
So you have your petcock in the run position and fuel runs out the hose?

If the cylinder was full............you need a needle and seat for the carb...NOT the petcock!!!!!

I had this happen because I left petcock in prime position. I just put a carb kit in the carb and it still did it. I have bought a banshee petcock and just waiting for it.

It's usually one of a cpl things. Like stated, in prime position the hydraulic weight of the fuel simply has more pressure than the needle/seat/float can stop. This is why dirt bikes have to shut their petcock off after riding.
Dirt in the needle/seat can happen also.
I've never seen the needle seat wear out to the extent that it actually was a problem. I'm sure I will find one someday.
