Polaris 90 sportsman performance.

Hi I have looked over the board alot trying to decide if there is anything to be done with my sons polaris 90 sportsman to add a little more power to it. He has had it for 2 years now and he seems he has advanced to its limits with speed and power.

If I had to say what I would like to attain from it I would say a decent increase in overall speed and power, leaning toward low to mid range power. Top end would be nice as he really likes to beat his cousin on her LT80 on a race. As it is now he rides the thing stopped or wide open.

I have seen tons of aftermarket parts from big bore kits, to clutch kits, to carbs and reeds. I have seen pipes and air filters. I just cant put it all together very well as to what it will do for me.

I honestly dont want to spend a fortune making a race motor and would like to keep it as reliable as possible. Are there any small things that I could do to make it faster, and what would be a logical progressive path toward my goal. I plan on working on this this winter and getting it ready for him this summer.

Start with a ggod carb intake and pipe this will get the machine breathing right. Next would be dial in a good clutch set up. This will all help with the performance greatly and the reliablity is still there. Hope this helps .

I believe the Sportsman 90 is the same engine as the Predator 90. If it is, call Hetrick Racing and get their pipe and clutch kit. That alone will make a big difference. Stay away from the Hotseat Performance Pipe!

Good luck!

Any chance you guys have the carb install instructions for the Keihin unit? My kit didn’t come with instructions and I don’t want to screw anything up.
