What's wrong now?????????

Well I thought I had this LT80 fixed. Got it running yesterday after cleaning everything extremly well. Ran for a few minutes and I had to shut it off to goto a meeting.

Came in this morning and the gas tank was empty. Thought that was odd, but I just put some more in and tried to start it. No go. So I thought, the float must be stuck. Took the carb back off recleaned the needle and seat again, checked to see if the float had any fuel in it (none). Put it back on, still no go.

Checked the spark plug. Soaking wet. So I cleaned it off, checked the gap and put it back in the engine. No go. Well, lets check the compression. Right on 120.

Lets see. Gas Check
Compression Check
Spark Check

Engine still doesn't run????

What's the diagnosis guys??

There's obviously fuel running into the cylinder, is there fuel in your airbox as well? I still think your float isn't shutting off the fuel coming into the carb. Bend the tab up a little on your floats so the needle seats a little earlier.

The float is plastic and I am afraid if I bend it it will break.

I jst fixed my lt with the same problem. The petcock on the tank only allows fuel to flow if there is vacuum from the carb. The vacuum opens a valve in the petcock. There is a little rubber o-ring that seals the valve. I had to replace the o-ring because it was cracked and allowed fuel to flow all the time. We had to drain the motor and airbox of all the fuel. (removed carb and reed valves stood it on it's front end). Once all the gas was out it took a little cranking but it fired up and has run great since. Hope this helps.

Aaaaaaa where do you think all that gas went to?

Hint: It's where the crank resides.

Your whole crank case is full of gas. Your going to have to drain it out before it will run.

The problem still remains a mystery. However it is solved.

After cleaning and reassembling eveything it runs like a champ.

Thanks for all of the input!!!!
