How to make raptor 80 faster
 

Hey, just wanted to know if anyone knows how to make a raptor 80 go faster besides putting on aftermarket parts. Can i take out any restricters? I've already taken out the throttle restricter. helped alot. Then the baffle and air box lid, but only made it loud and didn't make it any faster. so i put the baffle back on so i wouldn't disturb the neighbors as much. Can anyone please help? thanks.

could check to see if there are restictors in the cdi....but the raptor 80 s are not the fastest and there isnt much to make them really any faster thats worth spending the money on might be time to upgrade quads.

I don 't know of any way to make it faster without aftermarket (no wires to cut, gears to change or transmission restictors to remove)

my sons raptor 80 ran at about 30 mph out of the box. removed the air box restrictor, added higher rev cdi, itp offset rims and tires and uped the main jetting to #80. quad will do 37 mph and seems to have much better power throughout.

if you really wanted to make it faster find the 4 speed trans from a 87 yamaha 80cc moto 4. Then you have 4 gears instead of 3.

I think mine is plenty fast for a younger rider.

the raptor 80 is plenty fast enough for a young rider. I've had to battle with my wife when I bought the ATV and any changes I have done to it. she is a nurse and has seen her share of young riders hurt (some requiring surgery).

Cameo14 the best update I did to the Raptor 80 was to add 2" wheel spacers front and back and the ITP rims and tires. the thing handles great and is very stable. I (200lbs) can do dougnuts on it and it doesn't tip a bit.

I chose the Raptor 80 because my son had learned to ride on a Raptor 50 (so was already used to that particular ATV setup) and he wanted to learn to shift (like the big boys). most of the other minis are CVT trannies. Yamaha could use to update the Raptor mini suspension (especially the front) and add at least a tail light for signaling braking.

yhea atvingnc The raptor 80 could use a suspension upgrade, it is virtually the same as my old 87 moto 4 (which turned into the badger which became the raptor 80 but 87 was the only year with a 4 speed trans.)
