What I've learned so far

Got TaoTao Panther 110s for my 6 and 7 year old at Christmas. Here is what I've learned so far:

1) from reading this forum, I let it run for a while and changed the oil before riding. I used rotella 10W40. It takes a little less than a quart. I did not have gelpacs in the carb. Had to adjust the float in the carb to keep one from leaking out of the carb tube.

The next ones deal with mine and my kids learning:

1) I tightened the throttle limit screw all the way down and then I can fine tune it by turning the barrel on the throttle cable in front of the handlebars to either slow it down more or speed it up for climbing hills.

2) The auto-shut off remote came in handy when my neice tried to ride it. So keep it close by at the beginning. But don't trust it to work too far or if they get on the other side of the house or something.

3) One thing happened I didn't think about. My 7 year old was going up a hill and couldn't make it. not sure if he cut it off or it stopped, but he started rolling backward VERY fast. So just being able to cut the engine is not enough. Kids MUST know how to use the brakes. Luckily he heard me the second time and hit the brakes. Before that he was laughing, oblivious to the danger he was in.

So far we are having a blast. And unfortunately ;-), I think I'm going to have to get a 4-wheeler for myself to keep up with them.

Wow, 2 and 1/2 years. Thats awesome. I know my 2 year old girl will go climb up the boys 4-wheelers if she can see it. And she puts up a fight when you go get her off of it. She is ready to go...

ya hes got about 10 to 15 hours on it since christmas. when there is snow on the ground I have to give him a little more juice to get through the snow. but he does really good. I leave it in first gear and let him go. if he stands up he tells everyone he is riding a wheele. teach them safety and riding early and they will learn from there. but safty first.
