Hop up Cdi from Ebay for Predator 90 won't work

Hello,
I bought a hop up cdi for my predator 90. It runs great with the stock cdi so I know the quad is fine. I bought a cheap $32 cdi off ebay and it won't work when I hook it up. It will only work if I leave the black/white kill switch wire unplugged. If I do that, then I can't turn the quad off since none of my kill switches will work then. I had the seller send me another cdi but I had the same issue with the replacement one.
Any ideas on what may be wrong? Could this be an AC CDI on a DC bike problem?

Any help/ideas are appreciated.

It seems like your Predator "Kill Switch" works the opposite way to most Kids Quads. Normally the kill switch and ignition switch are connected to earth to stop the engine and disconnected when running. Your Predator may be DC ignition, you will have to do the checks in the "stickies" on this site to find out.

That is exactly what it seems like. Thanks merryman. I will run some checks. I was under the impression the Polaris Predator 90 ran an AC ignition even though it has a battery.
I will check and reply back later.

try reversing your wires in your kill switch. Also try with the kill switch in the off position as well.

It will work with the kill switch in the off position but then the bike won't turn over. I have to disconnect the black/white wire to get the bike to start, then turn either switch to "off" and plug the wire back in.
Seems like to much of a hassle. I should just be able to plug in a cdi and have it work. I think I will just return this one and try to find another brand that is known to work.
I did test the black/white wire and it is connected to ground when the switches are in the "on" position.
Thanks guys.

So what's wrong with running the oem CDI?
What are you exppecting from this so called hop up CDI?

The performance CDI's are just a fancy shiny box. Not going to see any real performance from it at all. Probably got the wrong style of cdi for your machine. Just remember you get what you pay for off ebay.. Ebay seems to be getting worse lately. Iv been stung several times in the past few months and ebay or paypal is stepping up to the plate to get me my refund.

"The performance CDI's are just a fancy shiny box."
That's what I was thinking.
IMO, I can't see it helping anything.

I was hoping that the advanced timing curve might add some power across the curve. Stock curves tend to have retarded timing curves.
I need my power for my son at the dunes. I will just start with a pipe and then adjust the clutch as needed.
I am going to return the cdi and run the stock one.
Thanks for your input guys.
