Coolster 125cc CVT clutch adjustment?
 

I've done a few basic and cheap mods to my sons 125 to make it a little more ridable for him. I did the Ebay shock swap which helped tremendously as far as actually having shocks instead of no movement! I also added 1.5" wheel spacers and 16.5" rear mini quad tires. As you already know, these quads have real good top speed out of the box but are slugs down low. The smaller tires did help with the down low torque and it handles much better now. It did lose quite a bit of top speed, which I'm not real worried about considering his age.


One thing I'd like to know is if I can adjust the CVT a little tighter? It'll make it up hills but if he stops, he has a hard time getting it to go forward again. I would also like to maybe either go with one size larger front tooth or a size smaller rear to help get a little more speed out of it. My fear is losing the torque for hills again but if I can get the clutch tighter, it may not be so bad.


Then once I get that taken care of, looks like I'll be fabricating the lower control arms to help get the camber back in order since it lowered quite a bit with the new shocks.

Altering the weights and/or spring in the CVT alters the gear ratios. Altering the chain sprockets does the same thing. OK the top speed will alter with the chain ratio but not with CVT alterations, but you recon you are "not real worried about (top speed) considering his age." If the variator acts as the clutch, lighter weights may let him rev a bit harder before it bites.

I agree, remove a roller or 2.
