LT80 gear box bearing question
So...re-assembling the gear box and I'm unsure about the bearing that seats in the gear box cover. Unsure because the bearing has different faces...one side is notched. unfortunately I didn't take notice during disassembly and the manual nor a parts diagram show any detail. I'm guessing the notch faces the cover and the normal side faces the gears, but confirmation would be appreciated.

The bearing in the cover is a normal bearing. I don't understand this notch.
There is nothing to go into any notch. I'd assemble like you mentioned, notch out. |
I hear ya Jack...I'm curious if I just received a bad part...gonna take a pic of it & get your thoughts on it before I install...don't want something like this sh!t'n the bed in the middle of the woods...

I have a new gearbox cover bearing here if you want it.
I can't see the problem (pics) but for a 8 dollar bearing... |
I think I'm good Jack...I seated the bearing with the normal rounded face down into the cover and the 'notched" side up facing the gears...it seated properly and appears to be the right height...so all should be good...
