Lights on KFX90 possible?
I have a 2007 KFX90 I recently bought for the kids. Anyone ever put any LED lights on them? I'm not good at figuring out electrical needs. Would if even work? I'm guessing you would want something low wattage probably, but I wouldn't know what I can do to maximize lighting.
Thanks in advance, -groffster |
I fitted 12v LED lights to a kids quad that had no electrics on it at all. I put a 12v "kids quad" battery on it, a fuse, an on off switch and a small LED light bar. The kid just charges the battery up with a car battery charger when the lights start to dim. If you need hi/lo beam and taillight etc, things get a bit complicated, but just fitting say a 20w LED spotlight shouldn't be a problem, and probably wouldn't run the battery down unless you left the light on.. Always put a fuse in the system.

Agreed. I've seen others mount a LED. They use so little voltage. You should be able to add a wire to the battery and be good. Great advise on the fuse!
Before LED's you would have needed a higher power stator. On a side note, he grandkid don't drive and the fire dept was busting his chops about riding his bike. NO lights. Welll, a trip to ebay, some metal and bolts and shebang, blue flashing bicycle. Just a battery and a battery tender. Sure can see him coming now. :D :D |
Thanks! That gives me a lot of useful information. For starters I'm not sure that I would of thought of putting a fuse inline somewhere. Thanks a million!
