how cheap can you get a nice running moto or speed or cannibal? And how reliable are each of these quads. I'm sure there's much more maintenence than my ex, but is it as bad as say a banshee, what kind of repairs do you normally have to do on the stock quads? and how do you like your blaze? better than ne thing else you've ridden?

first year and best year is 2002. 2003 they were starting to throw things together and had more problems. There are several updates for all years, Stage 8, oil breather, and motor mount being probably the 3 most important.

thanks again thomez! Is this about true? Here's my advice. Buy a 'Dale, get/do all the updates (couple $100 bucks, I think), get a $300 D&M kit so you can map it and diagnose problems yourself, get a $600 balanced crank from ATK or send yours off to Big Winky for the same $600, and ride that %*#@! like you stole it! Any thing else you would HAVE to do for reliability?

I think that with the updates and a balanced crank you are looking at something pretty darn reliable. I have yet to hear of one with problems if those were all done, although people did just start balancing cranks. Even at that there are quads out there with just the updates or some with none at all (scary!) that have a few hundred trouble free hours. I think if you did all of those things problems would be minimal. I'll know by summer cause I'll have all those things done on mine and will be hoping to not have many issues. I want to get a moto really bad but just don't have the money now. Maybe sometime within next 2 years or so, I dont know. Still gotta get a truck(hauling). I can't sell my ex, lot of sentimental value. But I plan on getting pretty serious on racing and freestyle. All in time I guess. Yet again thomez thanks for all of the help. oh and is programming the mapping hard or is it easier than say adjusting your carb? that sounds sweet.

You plug your laptop or Ipaq into your quad and run the software. I haven't done it yet but I am sure it is easier than pulling a carb and changing jets
You could always get a Cannibal and change it over to a Moto when you had the money. If you have 3500 or can get ahold of it, you are in like Flint. Then you just need to upgrade it like everyone will be doing to the YFZ or Honda to get the nerfs, beadlocks, a arms, etc . etc ...
