I'm trying to get a good deal on a SPEED, but the dealer I'm working with is trying to get retail and some, We are still working it out but I would like some real world numbers to push around.

I paid $7999 MSRP. My dealer wanted shipping and setup fees, but when I told him I had the money and would drive the 2 1/2 hours the next day to pick it up he backed off. Good luck, you'll love the Speed. Does it have the reinforced swingarm? If it doesn't you may be able to get a better deal.

Thats way too much for a quad.

i second that prs311. rediculas! you could build up any R for that kind of money to out perform the SPEED. just my 2 cents. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

Alright wired, show me the specs for an R that will outperform the speed. Now total the labor hours required to get it all together. Add it up. If I take that kind of time away from my business i could of just as well bought a Moto! Time is money, right? I imagine speed buyers have more of the latter than former.
I personally would rather be ridin than wrenchin! Just my $.02.

Well put Ryanstones. Some people have the time, others have the money. Go the route that best suites your needs. Also, for $8000, what would you rather have, a brand new quad or a 13+ year old quad.

IMHO, I think for 8,000 g's I would deffinatley rather have a seriously hopped up 250r wrapped in Lagear, LSR, Durablue, Axis ect; and a heck of a lot of other goodies on it over a stock Cannondale, even with a 13 year old geometry speck. And obviously so would 90% of the pro riders out there since they ride R's. Go figure. You just may be suprised if you think 2 strokes are going to die out in the near future. Keep your eye out for Bomb. If they produce a 2 stroke you may see a dramatic shift in the market, because I'm starting to hear more and more roomers that the snow mobile manufactures are just sitting and waiting to push into the offroad market.

Yeah 911 youcan definately deal, But you have to pay cash for it, like you stated you got the money, so your golden, most people who buy quads either finance them or finance part, that is fine, but you wont get any movement. I got 400$ off list for my cannibal, and paid NO, set-up, delivery or anytnhing like that. I didnt even pay taxes, ill fax you my invoice if ya want. got it all for 6599, so for the speed you could take the same percentages off and go from there, good luck!

cctman, my point about the 13 year old quad is not the geometry, its about 13 years of unknown history. When's the frame going to brake, how about the transmission grenading, what about time and cost in replacing all of the bushings and bearings in things like hubs, axle carriers, and suspension pivot points just to get it up to spec? Also, the pro's aren't racing $8000 250Rs, more like $18,000 250Rs. It all goes back to the point of "how much value do you put on your time?". $8000 in the base 250R and parts will get you a better quad, but how much time would it take you to get it together and if we were to start this comparison tomorrow, I could be riding Saturday, when would you be able to ride? I am not trying to break your balls, just expressing a different point of view on the whole money, time and perceived value issues and why there is a market for Cannondales and why they will sell.
